What this service does

socialsearchapi retrieves content from social platforms and returns it to the customer who asked, in a unified JSON format. This page explains exactly what data is involved and the rules we hold ourselves and our customers to.

Public content only

We retrieve only information that is publicly accessible without logging in — the same content any visitor would see in a web browser with no account. Public posts, public profiles, public reviews, public app-store listings. Nothing more.

What we never access

Private or protected accounts. Direct or private messages. Content behind a login wall, paywall, or privacy setting. Draft or deleted content. Anything a platform's own interface would not show a logged-out visitor.

No credentials, ever

We never ask for, accept, or use anyone's social media username or password — not our customers' and not anyone else's. There is no 'connect your account' feature, because we do not touch accounts.

Fetched on request, not archived

Results are fetched at the moment a customer asks and returned to them. We do not store the content of query results, we do not build a corpus or historical archive of platform content, and we are not a data broker holding a database of posts or people.

Personal data and legal basis

Public posts can contain personal data that individuals chose to publish. Where we momentarily process such data to answer a query, we do so under legitimate interests: enabling lawful access to publicly available information for analytics, research and product integration. Customers who retain results become responsible for that data under the data-protection law that applies to them.

What customers may not do

Our terms of service contractually prohibit using this API for surveillance or behavioural monitoring of individuals, facial recognition or biometric identification, re-identification of anonymised individuals, profiling based on sensitive attributes, harassment, stalking, doxxing, spam, or any use that violates applicable law or the source platform's terms as they apply to the customer. Keys are suspended for violations.

Platform relationship

socialsearchapi is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any social media platform. Platform names are used to identify where public content originates; all trademarks belong to their owners.
